Chevy Key Fob Programming: A Step-by-Step Guide

With your chevy remote start key fob in hand, follow the steps below to complete Chevy key fob programming:

  1. Unlock your car door manually with your Chevy key.
  2. Make sure all car doors are securely shut, then insert the key into the ignition. Do not start the car at this point.
  3. Press and hold the “Unlock” button located on the driver’s side door, then turn your key to the “On” position in the ignition. Your electrical systems will become active, but the engine should not be ignited. Keep the “Unlock” button pressed.
  4. Turn the key back to the “Off” position, then back to “On” and finally back to the “Off” position in quick succession. The sequence should be On – Off – On – Off.
  5. Release the “Unlock” button.
  6. Once the “Unlock” button is released, you should hear the door locks engage and disengage quickly. This means that your Chevy is ready for the programming sequence to begin.
  7. On the Chevy key fob, press and hold “Unlock” and “Lock” simultaneously until you hear the door locks once again engage and disengage. This is an indication that you have successfully completed the Chevy key fob programming.
  8. Finally, insert the key into the ignition set to the “On” position to finish the programming sequence.
