North America’s largest auto show just wrapped up in Chicago, capping more than a week of exciting revelations that included new designs, breathtaking concept cars, and exciting peeks at what is to come from some favorite brands. Representatives from Chevrolet and GM talked about their favorite highlights, and, like the staff at Fairbanks Chevrolet Buick GMC, they were only happy to share.

Teen Driver is King

Like your Fairbanks family’s new driver, GM’s Teen Driver feature is constantly improving. According to GM, new vehicles equipped with this advanced safety system will enjoy:

  • A speed limiter that prevents the vehicle from exceeding 85 mph
  • Sound system mute if seat belts are not in use
  • Automatic activation of driver-assist technologies (when equipped)

And, to help North Pole parents coach their teen on safe driving practices, the Teen Driver system also supplies a report card on the in-dash display with information about incidents, alerts, and more.

GMC for All

A new Terrain coming to town will undoubtedly make waves thanks to the new 1.6 L Ecotec turbo-diesel version that delivers up to 240 lb.-ft. of peak torque and a staggering 39 MPG on the icy Alaskan highways.

The Sierra Denali Mountain concept turned some heads at the show too thanks to the addition of available off-road tracks that move the big truck through the snow, like a modern search and rescue vehicle. With an average North Pole snowfall of about 55-inches, this could make it a go-to option for adventurers who need to get out of town for work or play.

Hitting the Red Line

Chevrolet also displayed some of their sleek Redline vehicles at the show. These head-turners feature signature black wheels, black grilles, red accents, and more. Drivers can choose from nine models, including:

And, because Chevrolet cares about safety first, many of these new vehicles will also include the new rear seat reminder system, designed to prevent children and animals from being accidentally left behind.
